Hydraulic energy in Dauphiné, an industrial history

Abstract
From the mills to the large hydro-electric dams, the mastery of hydraulic power has been one of the basis of the economy of Dauphiné. It goes with an industrial history marked by a long cycle, from years 1860 to 1960 where the " Houille Blanche " plays a central role in the economical development of Dauphiné. Its inheritance can still be found nowadays in the capability of innovation that it contributes to develop at Grenoble and the neighbourhood.
