Abstract
After underling the importance and rapidity of floods depending on possible occurrences of heavy rainfall and the characteristics of the drainage area, the specific nature of each flood is thoroughly examined. The inventory, acquisition and analysis of the available data, as well as a site inspection, are strictly necessary so as to specify the required and possible periods of time, as well as the time intervals to be taken into consideration. An ordinary hydrological method is proposed for forecasting the flow rates from rain. This method uses only two parameters from which it is possible to assess the variation direction depending on the scale and nature of the floods.
