Abstract
Present conceptions of hydroelectric plants take into account all social and environmental data. Measures are taken to adapt purely energetic development management to satisfy other uses: tourism and leisure, irrigation, industrial needs, natural environment etc. while at the same time respecting the rights of the statutory body. Thus in Saint-Egrève on the Isère, the construction of the dam and the factory on the river bed, in preference to the construction of a lateral canal, has integrated the special features of the site: reduction in consumption of agricultural land, protection against high waters, preservation of the natural environment and development of tourism and leisure.
