Abstract
Answering a moutain securily responsibles' need, this model called NX-LOG, is to give a reliable assessment of local avalanche risks. It associates two complementary resolution modes : statistical computation and symbolic computation, respectively belonging to NXD and AVALOG systems. Thus, it associates arguing from analogy and deductive reasoning in order to provide a diagnosis. Different specialized processes (initialization, interpretation, synthesis) are used, which make the model original ; its potential performance seems very high.
