Contribution de modèles physiques à l'étude du charriage torrentiel
Physical scale models contribution for torrential bedload transport study
Sogreah Ingénierie
Abstract
The bed load transport plays a major role for the flowing conditions of torrent floods. In this respect, localised bed built up is often the origin of catastrophic overtopping of river banks. Scale models provide a wide range of possibilities to reproduce such a phenomenon in an area where the similitude is easy to obtain, and more specifically for the design of specific arrangement for the retention of materials upstream of sensitive areas. The methodological approaches in order to assess the problems and in order to design applicable engineering solutions are illustrated by the various examples of a number of studies carried out in SOGREAH laboratory, on specific platforms constructed to this end.
