Validation of classical wave and current sediment transport formulas with in situ measurements on macrotidal beaches

Abstract
Coastal engineering on beaches requires to take into account the natural environment, its evolution and its hydrosedimental behaviour in order to reduce the inevitably induced negative impacts. In this goal, many in situ measurements of hydrodynamic parameters and sediment transports have been made on the beaches of the western coast of the department of La Manche. The comparison between the mesured transport rates and the calculated rates coming from several wave-current interaction transport formulas allows to choose the best formulation according to the hydrodynamic context.
