Agence de l'Eau Rhône Méditerranée Corse, 2-4 Allée de Lodz, 69363 Lyon Cedex 07
Abstract
In order to comply with the Urban Waste Water Directive a system of sewage network monitoring has been established in France. According to this directive the discharges from the sewerage system should be considered as a whole and so the establishment of a monitoring system including the discharges occurring directly from the sewage network is a logical consequence. The french regulations with this respect are the "waterlaw" of 3 january 1992 and an "arrêté" from 22 december 1994 concerning the monitoring of the wastewater treatment plants and sewage networks. This paper summarises the main regulatory obligations with respect to the sewage network monitoring. It proposes a methodology for its implementation, lists the problems most frequently met and makes an inventory of the current degre of implementation of this procedure.
