Abstract
On behalf of Voies Navigables de France, the SMNLR had installed a set of measurement devices on the palavasian hydrosystem, to understand the very complex dynamic of its different components composed of the Rhône to Sète canal, the Or, Mejean, Arnel. Prévost ponds, their tributaries and the Mediterranean sea. VNF envisaged to widen the cross section of the canal along its passing through the palavasian ponds. The study which was performed by CETE Méditerranée, analysed the time series which have been collected for two years and pointed out some typical behaviors under specific hydrometeorological solicitations. This paper presents the methodology which has been applied. It is composed of three different approaches : a global approach which considers the variation of global parameters at the whole hydrosystem scale a specific approach which examines an homogeneous component (a sub system of two ponds for instance on which are estimated the tide lag, its dumping. a hydraulic approach which takes into account a specific component like a lake or a communication channel and calculates hydraulic parameters like discharges, free surface slope... Each of these three complementary approaches allows to precise a specific behaviour of this very complex hydrosystem.
