Abstract
Water quality and water resource management will be a major problem in our society, which global consumption was 54 % of available water in 1995. In 2025, some countries in Africa, Middle East and Southern Asia, would have a demand reaching their available resources. In This specific field of water resource assessment, traditional network of water level gauges is reduced in some tropical countries of South and the quantification of global water resources is now less effective than in 1980. On this case, Earth Observation techniques could be a solution by providing useful EO and GIS solutions for a regular and cost effective monitoring and management of water resources. The aim of this paper is to use remote sensing information to reach a better description of the global functioning of a tropical wetland in French Guiana. Combining optical and radar data, we define spatialized " indicators ", expressing the water dynamic in these coastal hydrosystem.
