Abstract
The use of a geographical database, having the necessary data for erosion risk modelling allows creating an erosion map covering the whole Moroccan territory. The erosion model is based on an adaptation of the universal soil loss equation. Data concerning soil, climate, and topography are derived from digital maps (1/1000 000). Remotely sensed data (NOAA-AVHRR) provide recent data on land cover. They allow going from potential erosion risk map to present risk map. This cartographic product has essentially a qualitative dimension. In the framework of protection reforestation definition, it has a strategic vocation.
