Abstract
The mechanics laboratory of the Institute of Electrotechnics IEN at university of Nancy was founded by Ernest Hahn (1876-1948), originating from Geneva and having made the early professional career at Swiss Federal Institute of Technology ETH, Zurich. This note highlights the role of one of the founders of a laboratory in France and his contributions to the French Society of Hydrotechnics SHF.
