Mid century, half of the world energy needs may be supplied at an acceptable cost by wind and sun but this requires electric energy storage close to 3.000 Gw for 50.000 Gwh. P.S.P. appear the best relevant solution. The corresponding solutions, potential, cost and impacts are analysed, including the possibility of P.S.P. partly or totally offshore.

Au milieu du siècle, la moitié de l’énergie mondiale pourrait être fournie à un prix acceptable par le vent et le soleil, mais ceci nécessite un stockage d’énergie proche de 3.000 Gw et 50.000 Gwh. Des STEP apparaissent la meilleure solution. Leurs solutions, leur potentiel, leur coût et leurs impacts sont analysés y compris la possibilité de STEP partiellement ou totalement offshore.
