Set-up of an experimental device for characterization of static and dynamic behaviour of annular seals with high Reynolds number

Abstract
The determination of static and dynamic behaviour of annular seals is very important to identify the dynamical behaviour of turbopumps. Numerical models have been already performed but it is now necessary to obtain experimental results. It will improve the numerical models and it will characterize experimentally the behaviour of these kinds of seals. The objective of this study is to describe the process leading to the creation of a new test rig. A bibliographic synthesis allows to present several numerical models and experimental plants. Scientific and technical objectives of the test rig are then exposed, these objectives allow to show fundamental parameters and main design difficulties. Conclusion presents the prospects in long and short term of this project.
