Abstract
At the time being, the method used in the field of small turbines with an output of more or less IMW, consists either in designing a set of standard turbines, or in creating reduced scale models of large turbines, then adapting and simplifying the profiles without measuring the consequences. The result is that practically no machine built this way is optimal from a hydraulics viewpoint. There are many possible consequences and it can be said that numerous small turbines, now on the market, do nol allow criteria of simplicity, high and guaranteed performance, and reliability to be met simultaneously. It is then essential to develop a concept pertaining to small plants, which will satisfy these three essential criteria and which will allow to abandon the construction of standard equipment in favour of systemized design, allowing the installation to be guaranteed as perfectly adapted to the site's characteristics, at a construction cost compatible with the imperatives of the branch.
