U.M.R. 5569 " Géofluides-Bassins-Eau " CNRS, Université Montpellier II
Abstract
From a statistical point of view, the number of floods in urbanised areas of France have been increasing during the last ten years. The traditional fatalistic culture related to natural hazards is, to some extend, called into question. Now, political, economical, administrative and social actors of the city are looking for a new approach including the risk management of flooding risk, the knowledge regarding hydrological hazards have to be much more improved. If not, the risk management should leave some desillusion.
