Le risque de crue en région parisienne. Démarche et projets de l'Institution
Institution Interdépartementale des Barrages-Réservoirs du Bassin de la Seine
Abstract
In spite of the presence of various local flood protections and the attenuating function of the great lakes, the Paris area remains vulnerable to damage in case of a major flood. For this reason, the IIBR - the Intendepartmental Institution for the Dams and Reservoirs of the Seine River Basin (Institution Interdépartementale des Barrages-Réservoirs) as part of its mission, has become a Prime Contractor for risk evaluation studies. These studies will investigate the risks involved when rivers are in flood and will test the technical feasibility of potential future construction work, thus addressing the concerns of local government authorities, residents and representatives of the economic sector. The IIBR's approach, which operates within a broader "prevention-protection-information'' framework, and the various projects under consideration to reduce flood damage, are described in this presentation.
