Implementation of a quality process for the monitoring of the sewage system in Nantes and its suburbs

Abstract

A system of permanent monitoring of the sewerage nenvork was installed in the district of Nantes in 1997, in accordance with the law of December 1994. The exploitation of the system of measurement was assigned to the Direction de l'Assainissement who created for this purpose a unit composed of personnel selected from different departments. The activities of this unit were organised according to the requirements of ISO 9002 (version 1994). The unit was awarded ISO 9002 in 1999. The present document explains how these requirements can be applied to the exploitation of such a monitoring system and identifies the key factors of such an organisation.
