Abstract
After a short description of the complex physical phenomena governing the release of sediments when a reservoir is being flushed, two numerical models are presented. The first is based on simple principles; it enables determining the hydraulic conditions that will ensure optimum efficiency while respecting minimum concentration of released suspended maner. The second one, on the contrary, aims at a precise description of the mechanisms involved in the resuspension and transport of sediment. It can give as well some information about water quality deterioration during the flushing. This tool is mainly used to forecast the flushing consequences.
