Abstract
The assessment of sediment quality in reservoir must take into account the different situations caused by the suspension events. In laboratory experiments, a heavy metal contaminated sediment has been submitted to a "resupension-settling" sequence. Toxicity and physicochemistry of the sediment have been analyzed during time and compared to the same undisturbed sediment. Total metal concentration and toxicity did not change even after the resuspension or settling event. If H. azteca did not detect toxicity. Chironomus riparius did (lethal and sublethal effects).
