Abstract
Water utilities managers give more and more attention to the question of pipes renewal. Decision tools are necessary to allow pluri-annual planning of the renewal budgets but also to build out annual programs of renewal works. Existing models use both technical characteristics of the network and its components, and economic and social factors. We present in this paper an analysis and different valuation methods concerning direct costs involved by renewal or repair operations on pipes, as well as social costs due to a failure or to renewal or repair works.
