Ecoulements de surface lors des fortes inondations en ville
Surface flows during high floods in towns
Cemagref, U.R. Hydrologie-Hydraulique
Abstract
2-D hydrodynamic models solving shallow water equations can contribute to estimate the effects of urban floods coming either from river overflows or from too limited sewage network. Laboratory experiments representing a crossroad and the october 1988's flood in Nîmes are used to validate and to discuss such modelling. For operational use, limitations are both in the representation of some essentially 3-D processes and in the difficulty to select and to represent the main structures that can modify water levels in the streets.
