Abstract
The Climatology Department of Météo-France aims at enriching the French climatological heritage in reliable and usable series. It lies within the general scope of climate change studies and allows the study of particular events. Climate change studies over the 20th century were subject to various publications. Data of the last decades of the 19th century are being researched and keyed, considering the fact that the weather station network has been organized gradually since 1856. Various European projects enable to capitalize the efforts put in each country concerning long-term data and offer products useful for the characterization of past events. High monthly rainfall amounts occur in April and May, frequency of South-West Oceanic regime is higher than expected. High rainfall events occur at the end of May.
