Abstract

General survey on torrential correction thresholds and deposit ranges SOGREAH was entrusted by the RTM (Restoration of mountain terrain in the Savoie) and the "Erosion Protection" Division of the CEMAGREF in Grenoble with the task of carrying out research actions on two modes of torrential correction: RTM type torrential correction thresholds - deposit ranges at the torrent outlets into the valleys. The present article concerns three major themes: 1. Study of erosion downstream of the thresholds, with a view to forecasting the characteristics of thresholds and their bases. 2. Analysis of slides upstream of the threshold in order to determine flow rates of high waters of the torrent from measurements of water heights. 3. The torrents' potentiality to transport sediment in order to determine the size of capacities to give deposit ranges.
