How to implement for groundwater the Water Framework Directive

Abstract

To implement correctly the water framework directive, we will have to improve our general knowledge of ground waters, focusing especially on the pressures which may affect their good state. A development of the monitoring networks, either of quality or quantity, will be necessary. These steps will be mandatory to be able to define correctly management plans. These plans must enable the respect of the objectives of the directive in 2015. The implementation of the directive is an opportunity to make our groundwater policy more consistent and modern.
