Abstract
In 1994 the development of an original operating system of radar data for hydrology was decided in Nancy. This system, conceived to have a double objective (for research and operational process), has been the occasion of a continuous exchange between users and researchers. This paper presents the development's conditions of this system and highlights the elements which assisted these exchanges. It exposes the double influence which has resulted from these conditions : - the influence of the operational requirements on topics for studies and research ; - the influence of research results on the operational ambitions and practices. In conclusion, this paper emphasises the importance of organisations specialised in the transfer of know-how (operators and transfer organisations) as relay between researchers and users.
